The Place
The Polylimnio waterfalls are a paradise on Earth and one of the most stunning sites in the Peloponnese. Only a few kilometers away from Kalamata is the perfect place for canyoning, ideal for beginners. It offers a unique combination of awesome jumps, swims into crystal clear pools, easygoing waterfall abseils, and, of course, a thrilling zipline over one of the lakes. Canyoning & Zipline Polylimnio Waterfalls is perfect for everybody who wants to spend an unforgettable day in nature, blended with a bit of adventure and loads of fun. Perfect also for beginners and families with kids from 8 years old! The canyon has a footpath running up the side, so it’s great for friends or family members who just wish to come and watch, take photos, and enjoy the canyon from a distance.
The Trip
Meet your guide at the Polylimnio Parking and get transferred to the starting point. Your guide will brief you on all you need to know about canyoning and how to achieve maximum fun out of it. He will also provide you with wetsuits, helmets, and harnesses, and you will be ready to go. Along the way, you’ll discover the wonders of nature, jump and swim into natural pools, abseil from waterfalls, and of course, get the chance to fly over a lake with our thrilling 30m cable zipline. You will also have the chance to abseil the biggest and most notable waterfall. Here, many visitors come to swim, and you often hear them applauding at you as they see you rappelling down the waterfall.
Your guide will accompany you during the activity to ensure a safe and fun canyoning experience. None of the jumps or abseils is mandatory, so feel free to use the footpath if you don’t feel comfortable enough. We finish our canyoning experience at the end of the gorge near the car park, enjoying a tasty picnic and remembering the thrilling moments we lived a few moments ago.

Know before you go

What if I've never gone canyoning before?
Most of our customers are first-timers. Canyoning & Zipline Polylimnio Waterfalls is easy to catch up, and beginners can complete a decent journey on their first-time canyoning trip. Our experienced guides will take you through the basic skills, so you have the knowledge and adequate capability to enjoy a day at the gorge.
What will be the pace?
All of our trips are about journeying. We go at a relaxed pace; we learn on the move and enjoy the river and the gorge. If you are a group of experienced canyoners wanting to complete a demanding journey, then a Canyoning trip to Neda Waterfalls would be the best option.
What should I wear?
We suggest wearing clothes that you don’t mind getting a bit wet. Swimwear is essential if you wish to swim, a quick-dry t-shirt, a hat, sunglasses, and shorts. Sandals, open shoes, and socks are not recommended as they tend to get soggy. Hiking shoes or trainers are fine. A lightweight polypropylene or fleece layer should be included in early spring and late fall tours. Wetsuits are provided as well as dry bags where you can store your phone or some other personal belongings.

Is this Canyoning trip suitable for families with kids?
Absolutely Yes! A family canyoning tour is fun, educational, stimulating, and surprisingly relaxing for parents who wish to have their kids engaged in the experience of exploring the natural environment and the outdoors in a safe and controlled way.
What is the minimum age for a kid to join this canyoning trip?
Kids from 8 years old may join a standard group trip or a private trip. We always move with kids at a relaxed pace, allowing them to learn and have fun.
What kind of fitness level do I need to take part?
You don’t need to be a strong, athletic person. Good general physical condition will be just fine. Keep in mind that the most important thing is to have fun and to enjoy the journey. We’ll take plenty of breaks and move at an achievable pace.
What is the size of a group?
From 2 participants up to 16 people on our standard group trips. Most of our groups consist of couples, families, and individuals. We can also cater to smaller groups on private trips.
What trip is best suited for me? How do I choose?
All of our trips are designed to be suitable for everybody. Each one has its own unique characteristics. The best way to choose a trip among others is to check which one departs closer to the place you are staying.
Do you offer private trips?
Yes, we can organize a private tour, standard or tailor-made, just for you, your family or your friends.
Should I book a standard trip or a private trip?
If you are happy to go canyoning with a mixed group or don’t want to spend more money, then booking a standard group trip is the best way to go. Private trips really work best with groups of experienced canyoners or groups of friends who want to do the trip slightly differently, would like to do a more advanced journey, or just want to have privacy and enjoy the trip just themselves.
Is lunch provided?
Yes, simple, nutritious, and flavorsome, the food is one of the pleasures during our trips. Halfway, we make a relaxing stop at a nice place to taste a homemade picnic with freshly baked bread, organic garden-grown fruits and vegetables, homemade olive oil, and cheese.
What route will we take?
We usually perform our tours within a certain route, aiming to visit the most beautiful spots each trip has to offer; however, your guide is likely to choose an alternative route that suits the conditions on the day and the experience and needs of the group. This is the safest and best way to operate canyoning trips.
Where do I park my car?
You can park your vehicle safely and for free near our meeting point. Feel free to ask us about the parking conditions for a specific trip.
What happens if the weather is unsuitable?
A Canyoning trip is either cancelled, and we return your money, or arranged for another day.

Hydration is vital, but it doesn’t have to compromise the health of our planet. Refillable bottles can be topped up before and during the activity to ensure you have enough water for the journey.

Super canyoning with my 2 daughters (17 years and 13 years)! The scenery is splendid and the instructors are excellent (a lot of humor and very professional). They took pictures of us during the activity and shared them with us afterwards. In addition, a tasting of tomatoes and olive oil was offered after the activity. I recommend 200%.

We did with Potifis Canyoning in the Filolimino Falls, with 3 kids, the waterfall and the stunning track, including a drop in a snapping at a height of 20 meters!! The assistant Potifis Vianis were very professional and very patient and all with a sense of humor and jokes (also in Hebrew).
We recently did the tour with our children. For them, it was the highlight of the holiday. They wanted to do the tour again the next day. Also the small picnic at the end was very nice. Many thanks to Fotis & Giannis for this successful trip.

Fantastic experience, very funny and helpful guidance. Definitely recommended!! Afternoon meal was provided by them and was tiptop in order. The canyoning itself was certainly doable with enough variety for young and old.
I was nervous this wouldn't be exciting enough for my daredevil 11yo and too much for my 8yo. I had no need to worry. The guides were amazing and found opportunities for my 11yo to do crazy (but safe) rock jumps and they gave my nervous 8yo confidence to both do it and have it be one of her best experiences of our trip. This was the only "tour" we booked in Greece, and I'm so happy we did!!
A one-off experience for the whole family. A stunning view within a stream with waterfalls, snapping and zipline for beginners in the water. We started our canyoning trip with an explanation by the guides about what to expect and how to stay safe. During our trip they took the time to explain everything, which made us feel very comfortable. Besides that we had a whole lot of fun taking this trip it was really awesome. We ended our trip with a nice lunch with some local food. Since the guides took a lot of pictures, we also have a nice momento of this day.
The guides were careful and safe with us. They has lots of local knowledge and lunch included olives and olive oil from one of the guides own trees

Highlight of our 3 week trip to Greece! Our guides Fotis and Trifonas made our canyoning experience through this little piece of paradise super fun and also very safe. They are absolute pros and were great with my two boys (10&13). The excursion includes a short hike, zipline, lots of rock jumping, rappelling 2 waterfalls & swimming. A perfect adventure through a beautiful area that finished with a lovely snack/lunch in a little cafe. The guides provided quality wetsuits & protective helmets (essential to bring your own water shoes) and took great pictures to capture this unforgettable experience. No experience at all is required but this activity is not suitable for anyone with any kind of mobility issue. Also note this isn’t a “course” with built-in safety nets so kids must be mature enough to listen carefully & follow the guides’ instructions (they speak perfect English) & keep up with the pace of the group. It’s a real adventure!
Fun trip. It was a great mix of hiking, swimming, and rappelling--and the zip line was pretty cool! The scenery was beautiful, the guides were friendly and helpful (and took lots of good photos and videos), and we moved at a comfortable pace. Not too easy nor too challenging. We also enjoyed having lunch together afterwards. Delicious assortment of snacks: bread, olive oil, vegetables, and fresh figs from a tree that happened to be nearby. We would definitely do this activity again and recommend both it and the similar Neda Waterfalls tour.
My two sons, aged 21 and 19, and I thoroughly enjoyed this adventure with Explore Messina. It was our first experience with canyoning (called canyoneering in the states) and it gave us enough of a taste to get us interested in doing more. It was an easy to do and we felt safe at all times. One caveat, earlier in the day is better. We did a 9:30 session and mostly had the place to ourselves at the start. By the time we were hiking out of the canyon at noon it had become very crowded and more people were arriving each minute that went by.
Absolutely magnificent activity! We were with our 8 years old daughter and were a bit worried if she can do it, but the instructors made excellent job and all went perfect. They are not only high professionals, but very nice people who have excellent communication both with adults and children. The route is a bit demanding, but we’ve got so much fun and learnt new things. I would definitely do it again and, of course, it is highly recommended!

This was the second activity with Explore Messinia and was a blast. The nature of Polilimnio is pristine and the waterfalls are once in a lifetime scenery. The equipment for the canyoning is new and our guide Fotis was professional and felt safe. It was the first time we tried Canyoning and we will do it again! Do not miss it.
