The Trip
Meet your guides at the Divari beach near the town of Gialova. Start with a quick introduction to the use of electric mountain bikes and a safety briefing. You’ll then set off on a smooth gravel path, passing through sprawling ancient olive groves as you make your way to the shoreline, finally reaching the Gialova Lagoon, a habitat for 270 species of birds. Your first stop will be at a high point with sweeping views of the entire lagoon, where you’ll listen to your guide recount the rich history. If lucky, you might spot flocks of flamingos reveling in the lagoon’s shallow waters through your binoculars. You’ll continue your journey, cycling down a slim gravel path towards the renowned Voidokilia Beach, a true testament to nature’s beauty.
Your next stop will be at Kalamaris waterfall, located within a verdant hill surrounded by a forest abundant with oak, plane, and pine trees. This lush wetland serves as the perfect spot to relish a picnic filled with local delicacies. Here, you’ll also have the option to go for a swim beneath the cascading waterfall. After a possible invigorating swim, you’ll begin your downhill ride back to the starting point. Here, we’ll part ways, leaving each other with unforgettable memories of our journey.

Do I need previous experience?
Yes, the ability to ride a bicycle is required. Even if you do not have previous experience with an e-bike, it is necessary to be confident riding a bike. It is suggested to have ridden a bike recently, and not just know the skills since childhood. The Navarino Trail e-Bike Tour is easy to perform since you have basic cycling skills. All of our trips are about journeying. We cycle at a relaxed pace; we learn on the move and enjoy the natural environment. If you are a group of experienced riders wanting to complete a demanding journey, then a private trip would be the best option.
Is this Navarino Bay e-bike tour suitable for families with kids?
Absolutely Yes! A cycling trip is a wonderful way for your child to explore the outdoors. There are so many reasons to love a cycling trip with kids. Watching them gain confidence when outdoors gives them the chance to see places from a different perspective, teaching them about the natural environment.
What is the minimum age for a kid to join this e-biking tour?
Kids from 10 may join a standard group trip or a private trip. We always cycle with kids at a relaxed pace, allowing them to learn and have fun.
What kind of fitness level do I need to take part?
Relatively good physical condition is required. Keep in mind that the most important thing is to have fun and enjoy the journey. We’ll take plenty of breaks and cycle at an achievable pace.
What is the size of a group?
From 2 participants up to 12 people on our standard group trips. Most of our groups consist of couples, families, and individuals. We can also cater to smaller groups on private trips.
What is the trip best suited for me? How do I choose?
All of our trips are designed to be suitable for everybody. Each one has its own unique characteristics. The best way to choose a trip among others is to check which one departs closer to the place you are staying.
Do you offer private trips?
Yes, we can organize a private tour, standard or tailor-made, just for you, your family, or your friends.
Should I book a standard trip or a private trip?
If you are happy to cycle with a mixed group or don’t want to spend as much money, then booking a standard group trip is the best way to go. Private trips really work best with groups of experienced cyclists or groups of friends who want to do something a bit different, would like to do a more advanced journey, or just want to have privacy and enjoy the trip just themselves.
Is lunch provided?
Yes, simple, nutritious, and flavorsome, the food is one of the pleasures during our trips. Halfway, we make a relaxing stop at a nice place to taste a picnic with freshly baked bread, organic garden-grown fruits and vegetables, homemade olive oil, and cheese.
What route will we take?
We usually perform our tours within a certain route, aiming to visit the most beautiful spots each trip has to offer; however, your guide is likely to choose an alternative route that suits the conditions on the day and the experience and needs of the group. This is the safest and best way to operate cycling trips.
Where do I park my car?
You can park your vehicle safely and for free near our meeting point. Feel free to ask us about parking conditions for a specific trip.
What happens if the weather is unsuitable?
A cycling trip is either canceled, and we return your money, or arranged for another day.

Incredible, interesting, educational and just FUN! Our e-bike tour of the Navarino Trail with Fostis was a highlight of our trip to Greece and the Peloponnese region. We met early on the pristine navarino bay and spent the next several hours riding through migratory wetlands, pristine beaches, to out of the way vistas. Our guide was super knowledgeable. We enjoyed a gorgeous luncheon and conversation. We explored and got a great workout. The bikes were perfect and high end. I will refer this company again and again.
What an amazing day out! The area is absolutely stunning and our lovely guide Fotios was amazing. This was our second trip with Explore Messinia so we were already familiar with the bikes. Full instructions are given so even if it’s your first try on an E-bike, please do not hesitate. We are 59 and 67 years old but had no problems getting up the hills on these bikes. We did a total of 22 km which took us all the way around the trail and up a couple of hills so we could admire the view. The pre-trip information will tell you what to bring and backpacks are available if needed. Don’t forget to ask questions as the team has soo much local knowledge not just about the trip you are on but also where to go for the best Souvlaki and the best gifts for the people at home. We will definitely be back again.
We had a great 4 hours with Fotios on this e-bike tour. It was magical visiting the lagoon and the beautiful beach and then riding up to the church for some Greek snacks (tomatoes, cucumber, cheese, etc), conversation, and beautiful views over the bay. We felt safe and cared for, while still getting g some exercise and immersing ourselves in the local surroundings. Definitely worth doing !!
We had a wonderful e bike tour through olive groves, stunning beaches and more with Fotios Gkonis. He was warm, engaging and informative. And to top it off we enjoyed his homemade luncheon in a welcoming monastery courtyard! Just perfect.

We have the best half day exploring the beautiful countryside and lagoon and waterfalls! Super e-bikes and all orchestrated by the wonderful knowledgeable, kind and fun Fortis. To get two energetic boys (12 and 16) and their parents to all have a great experience is really magical. Really recommend this as a great way to spend some of your holiday.

My family and I (two children aged 14 and 11) joined Fotis on a private E-Bike Tour of the Navarino Trail, and we all agreed it was the highlight of our week-long trip to the area. The trail itself can be as easy or challenging as you like with the e-bikes. The tour lasted around four hours, including a very pleasant lunch break at a picturesque vantage point overlooking the lagoon. As well as pointing out the local wildlife (bright pink Flamingos were a surprise!), Fotis was a fountain of knowledge about all things Ancient Greek — a real treat for my myth-obsessed daughter. My son also had the chance to dip his feet in a truly spectacular bathing spot. Communication was excellent and efficient (mostly via WhatsApp), and we received some lovely photos of our trip via Google Drive. Pro tip, depending on the time of year, apply insect repellant, not an issue when you're on the move but when getting set up on the bikes you might get bitten. All in all, I would thoroughly recommend this company, Fotis as a guide, and the tour itself.
The guys at Explore Messenia are the best! Fotis, Fotis and Roque were so patient and kind while teaching us how to handle the e bikes. And they are so knowledgeable about the history and terrain. A totally beautiful way to spend the day in Navarino!
Beautiful half-day biking trip in the Navarino Coast region. We saw such a variety of terrain--a large flock of flamingos in the lagoon, sweeping sea views from hilltops, as well as hundreds' years old olive groves. Fotis, the guide, planned the route, so he knows it very well. He's an experienced cyclist, and is very easygoing and made the experience feel comfortable and welcoming. You should note that the biking is somewhat challenging, especially near the start of the ride, which is off-road. The e-bikes were top notch, so it's not a matter of strength so much as feeling confident navigating loose gravel and some steeper grades. That being said, we were the first customers, so it's possible the route will change. Also--forgot to mention--a really nice small waterfall where you can swim in nice weather. (You might want to wear your swimsuit, tho, as there's no facilities for changing.)
