E-Bike Tour Kalamata Olive Routes

We have only good words to say about our e-bike trip in Kalamata’s beautifully olive groves. To large extent this is due to Fotis who not only guided us through the groves with his seemingly unlimited knowledge on how effectively produce olives and olive oil and the conditions surrounding this but he also provide us with interesting insights of the Greeks manners and thinking as well as the traditional culture in Kalamata. The only regrettable thing is that we didn’t make this e-bike tour in the beginning of our visit in Kalamata.

We had such a great time on the two trips we took with Explore Messinia in April 2025! First, the kayaking trip from Kardamyli was incredible! Not only was the nature stunning, but we also learned so much about the history and geology of the region from our wonderful, warm, patient and encouraging guides, all people from the region willing to share their lives and home region with us. We even swam in a cave :) Second was the e-bike trip in the Kalamata olive groves, which was beautiful, fun and another learning experience, with a fun and warm guide who not only helped us with some tips on mountain biking, but also shared his life and knowledge with us about Kalamata, regional traditions and food, olive trees and growing olives. I highly recommend Explore Messinia and hope to be back for another trip with them!

I can’t say enough good things about this trip. Our guide was wonderful and accommodating in every way. The trip itself was varied—from city to village to olive grove. What a morning! The conversation and willingness to share Kalamata and Greek culture/customs with us was really the icing on the cake. My family—2 adults, 2 kids (12, 14) had never ridden e-bikes before and we all were fine to do this trip.,Would absolutely recommend to friends and would love to return someday.

As people who love nature and exploration, we found our people with Explore Messinia. Our guide, Trifonas, taught us so much on our 15 mile ebike tour around the olive groves and around the city of Kalamata. Having never ridden an ebike before, I was a little nervous, however there was no need to be! The controls were fully explained before we left, and having the extra push up the hills was brilliant - although costly, as I now want to buy one when I get home! We had a blast around the quiet country roads, seeing trees over 500 years old. Cycling through the city, with jacaranda in full bloom was spectacular. We stopped for a picnic in the park, with olive oil from Trifonas's own garden. Cannot recommend this tour enough, especially if you too love the great outdoors and lovely people!

My 22 y.o. son and I had the pleasure of doing this e-bike tour recently with Fotis as our guide. From start to finish, it was amazing. The olive groves - lovely. Downtown and waterfront Kalamata - beautiful. The picnic - positively delish! The education and conversation - top-notch. Fotis clearly loves his city and his knowledge and generosity in sharing so many tidbits about olive growing, production, the city, Greek culture, food, etc., were so appreciated. This was, hands down, one of the best "tours" I have ever taken.

Beautiful half-day biking trip in the Navarino Coast region. We saw such a variety of terrain--a large flock of flamingos in the lagoon, sweeping sea views from hilltops, as well as hundreds' years old olive groves. Fotis, the guide, planned the route, so he knows it very well. He's an experienced cyclist, and is very easygoing and made the experience feel comfortable and welcoming. You should note that the biking is somewhat challenging, especially near the start of the ride, which is off-road. The e-bikes were top notch, so it's not a matter of strength so much as feeling confident navigating loose gravel and some steeper grades. That being said, we were the first customers, so it's possible the route will change. Also--forgot to mention--a really nice small waterfall where you can swim in nice weather. (You might want to wear your swimsuit, tho, as there's no facilities for changing.)

We loved the Olive Routes of Kalamata e-bike tour. The ride was beautiful, the equipment was great, and the guide, Fotis, was superb. He shared so much with us all along the route, and his pride in and love for his town and the Greek culture was obvious and contagious. We highly recommend this activity if you're in Kalamata!!

We had an awesome time riding through the olive groves of Kalamata. The equipment was top notch, including a last generation e-bike and a perfectly functional bike helmet 🤪. The bike ride was super doable even for someone who doesn't usually go bike riding. Our guide, Fotis, never lost a beat. He was very passionate and new everything there was to know about harvesting olives. During our trip he offered us a healthy snack and some tasty bread with local oil and veggies for lunch. Would definetly suggest to anyone who loves adventure!! 🚴🚴

We had a fantastic morning on the e- bikes with Fotis. A highly recommended trip on first class e- bikes. The route is easy to ride and the bikes make it effortless. Fotis gave us lots of interesting information about olive trees and Kalamata its self. The picnic lunch in the shade was perfect. Looking forward to another trip with Explore Messinia next year.

Nice tour through the olive trees. Very enthusiastic and pleasant guide who knew a lot about the area and Greece. Recommended!
